Recordkeeping Takes on New Look for 2012

This is very exciting news!

Recordkeeping is a very valuable skill taught to members of the Texas 4-H program.  Members are encouraged to keep project records and have these records reviewed annually by submitting a Texas 4-H Recordbook.

In an effort to update the current recordbook system, a committee of 4-H faculty has polled 4-H members, 4-H parents, and Extension faculty to request suggestions to improve the process.  It has been highly recommended and requested by many members, parents, and Extension staff that the Texas 4-H recordkeeping system (recordbooks) be available as on online, data entry system that easily allows for updates, editing, and printing.

So, today we are announcing this new system.

Important Details:
·         There will be three (3) levels of recordbooks based on 4-H age (junior, intermediate, and senior).  Information requested  for each level will progressively add on to each other.  The junior & intermediate books will be significantly simplified from the current recordbook.  The senior level book will be similar to the current record book with some minor edits.
·         Parts of the report form will be standardized to allow for ease of completion and judging .
·         Much of the data from previous recordbooks that a member may have saved on their home computer may be ‘cut and pasted’ into the new forms.
·         All 4-H members (juniors, intermediates, and seniors) will begin using the new online forms or new paper forms that will be available for download from the Texas 4-H website beginning with the 2011-2011 4-H Year.
·         Recordbooks will still  be printed and turned in (in hardcopy form) to be judged by the deadline set by your local County Extension Office.

Four Centras have been scheduled to teach this new system.  These dates are: October 19, October 26, November 2, and November 9.

More information will be forth coming.

Thanks,
Chris

Re-enrollment Began August 1 for New 4-H Year - Don't Get Left Out

All members must re-enroll in 4-H every year. Enrollment will be on line via the 4-H Connect program. If you already have a profile set up on 4-H Connect, all you need to do is update your profile information and select you want to enroll for the new 2011-2012 4-H year. However, this year there is a new state participation fee, which 4-H Connect will ask you how you would like to pay the $20 fee. Please select credit card or e-check.  Adult leaders and Clovers Kids are not required to pay the $20 fee.
It is very important you re-enroll as soon as possible to keep updated on upcoming 4-H events. On July 31st, the 4-H Connect program archived everyone that was enrolled. After July 31st all email addresses went inactive  until you re-enroll. If you will be participating in events that will occur in August, September or October, please re-enroll as soon as possible to allow us to keep you updated with due dates and events.  This includes entering into Fall Livestock Shows.
